Annual Training Conference Information

A Message from the ASP-WI President

Greetings Fellow ASP-WI Members …

My name is Bill Skurzewski and I have the honor to represent this association as your President for 2025.

First, to all those members who attended our annual training conference in March, I want to express my thanks and gratitude for your continued support.  Your attendance made the conference a tremendous success.

I have been a member of this association for 40+ years and a member of the Board of Directors for the past 38 years.  During my time on the Board of Directors and the Executive Board I have seen this association grow from a fledgling group of guys who got together for a conference once a year and evolve into a highly professional and organized association.  We have come a long way.  A long way in professionalizing what we do and how we do it. A long way toward cementing our reputation as the best SWAT Association in the country.

Our job, as directors, is to promote the training of SWAT Officers from around the State and to promote this training in a manner deserving of the efforts put forth by SWAT officers every day.  We have put on a high-quality training conference year after year, providing you with not only a quality venue but also providing outstanding speakers who have addressed the most cutting-edge topics and the most recent critical tactical incidents. We also are proud to recognize the outstanding efforts put forth each year by members of SWAT teams from around the state by honoring those members during our annual conference awards luncheon.

Our organization should mean a lot to all of us.  The Association of SWAT Personnel – Wisconsin, your SWAT association, was the first SWAT association in the United States.  Since its inception in 1982, we have been a self-sustaining organization, funded solely by YOU, the membership. I can promise you that this association is in good hands.  We are solid.  We have talented and energetic members of the Board of Directors who continue to find new and creative ways to enhance our operation and continue to move this association forward.  We will continue to do our best to maintain the high standards and quality of training you expect ... and deserve.

Your continued support, as well as your interest in bettering yourself as a SWAT Officer, is what drives the Executive Board and the Board of Directors to work hard to ensure that this association will be here to fill the training needs for you and for all future SWAT officers in the State of Wisconsin for a long time to come.  We owe this to you, our membership ... and we owe this to all the future generations of SWAT cops in our State.

We have already started to plan and prepare for our 44th annual conference next year.  Please watch the ASP-WI website and your constant contact for conference updates and for additional training opportunities from around the state.

I “Thank You” for the opportunity to serve as your President and I promise you that your Executive Board and Board of Directors will continue to work hard for you to maintain the integrity and high standards this association stands for.

Take Care, God Bless and Be Safe,

Bill Skurzewski
